2017 Toyota Camry vs 2017 Ford Fusion

2017 models are filling up dealership lots and showrooms everywhere. One of the most competitive vehicle classes is the midsize sedan segment. As the traditional family sedan, cars in this class have to offer a great blend of fuel economy, power and technology features all with a great reputation for safety. Looking at the 2017 Toyota Camry vs the 2017 Ford Fusion compares two of the newest cars in this competitive segment.

Under the hood, the 2017 Toyota Camry takes an early lead. Both the Toyota and the Ford offer standard 2.5-liter engines on their respective sedans. However, the Toyota engine is able to produce more power and earn better fuel economy. Horsepower ratings on the Camry check in at 178, compared to the 175 horsepower produced by the Fusion engine. The Toyota is able to earn an estimated 25 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway. Ford’s estimates are below the Camry in both mileage categories, earning 22 city/34 highway miles per gallon. The Camry can also be equipped with a larger V6 engine that increases the horsepower rating to 268.

2017 Toyota Camry Trim Levels and Features

Both cars spread their features out over a variety of trim levels. Toyota offers the 2017 Camry in four trim levels, while the Fusion is available in five. By offering fewer trim levels, Toyota ensures that each 2017 Camry model comes equipped with a longer list of standard features features.

Camry models begin at the base LE trim level. Even though it is the base trim level, the Camry LE still comes equipped with a slew of great features, such as automatic headlights, heated mirrors, keyless entry, a rearview camera and connectivity via Bluetooth, USB, auxiliary and Siri Eyes Free. Moving up to the SE trim level adds 17-inch alloy wheels, sport tuned-suspension, synthetic upholstery and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with paddle shifters. The XSE trim adds 18-inch wheels, LED running lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen and an Entune Audio system. Finally, the Camry XLE offers full leather upholstery and comfort-tuned suspension.
